I’m currently living in the island city-state of Singapore and am proud of it! We are (perhaps, infamously) known for being THE most expensive city to live in as well as an overly-nannyish government, complaining citizens and being “That-country-that-I-thought-was-a-part-of-China”.

However, Singapore is ALSO filled with (mouthwatering) food from different corners of the globe, Singlish speakers (not all of whom are locals), quirky laws and views like this:

There are so many other beautiful pictures of Singapore, just google them and you’ll be able to tell what I’m talking about!

That said, this is where I grew up and currently work at, so any reason to escape to somewhere else in Southeast Asia for a totally different experience and scenery is always welcome.

My addictions

I’ve always loved the water, always been enthralled by it. Just place me inside a pool or the sea and it’s instant nirvana. Naturally, I took to Scuba Diving like a fish to water (hur hur…). I’m constantly looking for affordable places that I can plunge into the blue (unfortunately, diving IS a really expensive hobby!) to supplement my travels on land.

I also enjoy photography although I’m not such a photography snob as some others I know of! The main reason for my travels as I mentioned earlier is to reset my mind by putting it into manual mode after weeks of autopilot while working. Therefore, a nice compact camera (or even simply a nifty camera phone) does the job.

Last of all, I do enjoy a good book. I received my Kindle Paperwhite from a good friend and it is an ABSOLUTE NECESSITY while travelling! Especially to those island destinations that I love so much.

Why did I create this site? … Especially since there are 1001 other travel related blogs out there!

I’ve always enjoyed writing so this is an outlet for me to pour out my thoughts and organize them. Speaking of organizing, I do enjoy reading personal recounts and forums to prepare myself when visiting new places so I hope this will also help you out!

And yes of course – unlike quite a few other travel bloggers, I didn’t quit my job to travel. My parents would freak out and besides, I have other commitments that would prove an impediment. So I guess one reason behind me creating this is to also inspire you if you’re in the same position as me. You don’t have to be a digital nomad to live the life of your dreams, neither do you have to quit your job just to see the world.
